Get Involved ///

Beyond Baroque has always been shaped by the people who gather here: poets, writers, artists, readers, performers, teachers, students, neighbors, and volunteers. Since 1968, it has been a place where people come not only to attend programs, but to form community and participate in the making of literary and artistic culture in Los Angeles.

Volunteer

Volunteers have long been part of what keeps Beyond Baroque alive and welcoming. They support programs, special events, bookstore operations, and the administrative work that helps the Center function day to day. Whether you are looking to support the literary arts, connect with the community, or become more involved with Beyond Baroque, volunteering is one meaningful way to participate.

Join a Workshop or Program

One of the best ways to become part of Beyond Baroque is simply to show up. Our workshops, readings, performances, exhibitions, conversations, and multidisciplinary programs bring together people at every stage of their artistic lives.

Perform or Organize an Event

Beyond Baroque has long offered a home for readings, performances, conversations, book launches, and other community-based literary events. We welcome inquiries from writers, artists, curators, and organizers whose work aligns with our mission and programming, and we encourage proposals with at least three months’ lead time.

Teach a Workshop or Class

Have an idea for a workshop, seminar, or discussion-based offering? Beyond Baroque welcomes proposals for classes that reflect the breadth of contemporary literary and artistic practice and contribute to the creative life of the community.

Exhibit or Curate

Beyond Baroque’s Mike Kelley Gallery has long supported visual art alongside literary activity. Artists and curators are welcome to share inquiries and proposals for exhibitions, installations, and interdisciplinary projects as opportunities arise.

Start Something New

Many vital parts of Beyond Baroque began because someone had an idea and brought it into the space. If you are interested in launching a reading series, discussion group, partnership, or other community-based project, we would love to hear from you.
